Der Firewall Knock Operator ermöglicht den Zugriff auf Server und Dienste mittels Port-Knocking. Erkennt der Daemon fwknop zur Laufzeit in den Firewall-Logs eine definierte Port-Knocking-Sequenz, so konfiguriert er zur Laufzeit die iptables-Regeln neu, um beispielsweise einen SSH-Port zu öffnen. Zusätzlich unterstützt fwknop auch OS-Fingerprinting, sodass der Anwender nur bestimme Betriebssysteme für Verbindungen zulassen kann.
